Maya-Maya Airport (BZV) is the main airport, about four kilometres from the city centre. Direct flights connect Brazzaville to Paris (Air France), Addis Ababa (Ethiopian Airlines), and several other African capitals. Connections from West Africa typically route through Libreville or Douala.
The Congo-Ocean Railway runs from Brazzaville south to Pointe-Noire on the Atlantic coast — a legendary 510-kilometre journey through rainforest and escarpments that takes 12 to 18 hours when running normally. Service is irregular and the line has suffered from infrastructure problems, but when it operates it is one of the great African train journeys. Check current status before planning a trip around it.
Entering from the Democratic Republic of Congo across the river is straightforward at the official ferry terminal — Brazzaville and Kinshasa are connected by a short boat crossing. The crossing time is about 20 minutes; border procedures take longer.
