Street Food Around the Market

The area around the Grand Marché has the best concentration of street food in the city. The staple combination is fufu — a stiff cassava paste — served with saka-saka, a stew made from pounded cassava leaves, often enriched with palm oil and dried fish. Grilled fish, fried plantain, and bean dishes are also widely available. Prices are very low; a full meal costs almost nothing. Go where the crowds are.
