Kananga is not a city set up for tourists, and it is worth being honest about that. There are no museums, few formal attractions, and infrastructure can be unreliable. What the city does offer is an unfiltered glimpse into daily life in the Kasai region: a chaotic and colourful central market, a striking colonial-era Catholic cathedral, and the Lulua River at the city's edge. If you approach Kananga on its own terms, there is genuine interest to be found.
