Two 18-metre sandstone statues of Amenhotep III that once flanked the entrance to his funerary temple — now almost entirely vanished. The statues are battered and faceless but still impressive at close range. They sit right by the road on the West Bank and are easy to combine with other sites; most tours stop here briefly, and that's about the right amount of time.
