The Temple of Merneptah stands close to the Ramesseum on Luxor's West Bank. Reopened after careful reconstruction, it preserves enough of the foundations and lower courses to make the layout of a 19th-dynasty mortuary temple unusually clear.
A small on-site museum displays reliefs and sculpture recovered from the temple, including pieces reused from the nearby Mortuary Temple of Amenhotep III. It is quieter than Luxor's headline monuments, but the combination of archaeology, museum pieces, and West Bank setting makes it worth a focused stop.
