The Tomb of Parennefer is a specialist but rewarding stop on Luxor's west bank. Its damaged reliefs come from the early years of Akhenaten's reign, before the Amarna break fully took shape, and may include some of the earliest scenes of Queen Nefertiti. It is less showy than the famous royal tombs, but the art-historical hinge it captures makes it worth seeking out if you are going beyond the headline sites.
