Dahab Island

Dahab Island is a Nile island in the southern reaches of the Greater Cairo region, lying in the river between Maadi and the opposite Giza bank. Unlike the more famous Zamalek or Roda islands further north, Dahab is largely undeveloped and offers a genuinely green, quiet strip of land in the middle of the river. Local fishermen work the surrounding water, and the banks attract picnicking families on weekends.

Getting to Dahab requires a small boat from the Corniche — informal ferries operate from the riverbank. The island itself has basic facilities and is mainly used for relaxed walks along the waterfront. For visitors based in Maadi looking for a break from the city noise, a short trip to the island and back makes a pleasant afternoon.
