The bright green-painted tomb of Emir Nur ibn Mujahid stands inside the walled city and marks the burial place of the 16th-century ruler who built Harar's famous walls. Nur was also known for defeating the Abyssinian Emperor Galawdewos in battle — a victory that consolidated Harar as an Islamic power in the Horn of Africa.
The tomb is a simple structure but a significant one in local religious life, and it functions as a pilgrimage site for many Ethiopian Muslims. Women often gather here to pray. The green dome and the small enclosure around it are easy to find from the market area, and the site is freely accessible.
