Things to Do

The Omo River's appeal is split between two very different experiences: the indigenous cultures of the lower valley, where several distinct peoples — Mursi, Hamer, Karo, Daasanach, and others — live much as they have for centuries; and the river itself, which offers one of Africa's great multi-day rafting expeditions through remote gorges and wilderness. Neither is easy to access, but both are genuinely extraordinary.
