Nzulezu (the correct Nzema spelling; also spelled Mzulezu) is an attraction in itself — the journey by canoe through the papyrus channels is as memorable as the village at the end of it. The experience is visiting a functioning community built entirely on water, not a museum reconstruction. The village has a church, a primary school, a bar, and a chief's palace, all on stilts above Lake Tadane.
Note that Thursday is a sacred day on the lake — the village prohibits all activities on the water, and canoe trips do not run. Plan your visit for any other day.
