About an hour's drive from Yamoussoukro, this reserve was set up with an ambitious breeding programme to reintroduce animals that had vanished from the region. The results are startling: white rhinos and giraffes roam a West African savanna. Hippos and waterbirds are also present. A small team of wildlife officers keeps poaching in check. It is one of the more surprising wildlife experiences in the country.
