Isiolo is a small town and the centre is easily walkable. For the market or outskirts, boda-boda (motorbike taxis) are plentiful and cheap — negotiate the fare before you get on. For the reserves — Samburu, Buffalo Springs, Shaba — you need a vehicle. There is no formal car rental in Isiolo, but vehicle hire with a driver can be arranged through the better hotels in town or through operators who work the reserve routes. Rates are negotiable and worth confirming in advance, especially for multi-day trips.
