Isiolo has a partly Muslim character, so alcohol is lower-profile here than in many Kenyan towns. The real social rhythm is chai — milky spiced tea served with fried mandazi from roadside stalls, particularly in the morning before the day's travel begins. Some bars exist but are not a prominent part of town life.
