Things to Do

Isiolo is primarily a transit town — a place to refuel, eat well, and prepare for the road north. That said, it earns a morning stop in its own right. The main market is one of the most vivid cross-cultural trading hubs in Kenya, drawing Borana, Somali, Meru, and Turkana traders. The contrast of landscapes — the green highlands you've just come through versus the brown semi-arid scrub that begins here — is itself a sight worth registering. Most visitors are en route to Samburu National Reserve or further north, and Isiolo is a practical base for that journey.
