The hot springs are the reserve's most memorable stop: steam hissing from the shore, boiling water bubbling through mineral-stained ground, and the lake stretching away behind it. They are beautiful, but they are not a playground.
The water can be scalding. Stay on obvious paths, keep children close, and do not test the springs with bare hands or feet. Local guides sometimes demonstrate just how hot the vents are, but visitors should keep a respectful distance.
