Getting Around

Lamu town has no cars — the streets are too narrow. You walk, or if you prefer, ride a donkey. The town is a maze of alleyways that can be disorienting at first, but it is small and safe, and getting lost is part of the experience. Dhow "taxis" are the main transport between beaches and islands — prices are very negotiable.
