Things to Do

Watamu's main draw is its marine environment. The reef is close to shore, the water is warm, and the national reserve status means it is in better shape than most reef systems along the Kenyan coast. Snorkelling is excellent even for beginners; diving opens up walls, caves, and deeper coral formations. Dhow crews at the beach will arrange trips out to the reserve, with park fees typically included in the price — agree on the total before you go.
