Holy Cross Episcopal Church is one of the oldest surviving structures in Robertsport, a small whitewashed stone church built in the nineteenth century by Americo-Liberian settlers and the missionary societies that came with them. The Episcopal church (American counterpart of the Anglican) has had a long presence in Liberia.
The church is still in use for Sunday services, and the small graveyard behind it holds the headstones of the early settler families that founded the town. Several of the nearby buildings — old wooden settler houses with wide verandas and tin roofs — date from the same period and give the upper part of the town the air of an unusually well-preserved historical settlement.
