Shipwrecks

Shipwrecks is the southernmost of the five named breaks at Robertsport, a fast, hollow right-hander that picks up larger swells and can hold size when the other breaks are blown out. As the name suggests, the line-up is opposite a section of beach where the rusting hulls of a couple of small wrecked vessels sit on the sand — a curious frame for an already wild stretch of coast.

The wave is more demanding than Cottons or Fisherman's Point, and is best left to confident surfers. The walk down from town along the beach is part of the appeal — long stretches of empty white sand, palms behind, and rarely another soul in sight.
