Nosy Sakatia

Quiet small island off the west coast, good for snorkelling with turtles

A short pirogue ride off the west coast of Nosy Be, Nosy Sakatia is the quietest of the easy day-trip islands. A reserved seagrass meadow off its west shore reliably hosts green turtles, and you can usually snorkel with several in an hour. A handful of small guesthouses dot the island for those who want to slow down further.

The interior is hilly and forested and easily walked across in a morning. Pirogues leave from the village of Chanty Beach on Nosy Be's west coast.
