Getting There

Kita is most easily reached by road from Bamako — about 180 km, three to four hours on the paved N24 highway. Bush taxis (sept-places) leave from Bamako's Sogoniko bus station throughout the day. The road is in reasonable shape and the journey climbs gradually from the Niger valley into the Manding hills.

The historic Dakar-Niger Railway runs through Kita, but passenger service has been suspended for years and any timetable should be considered aspirational. Confirm with the station before relying on it.

There is no airport at Kita. The nearest is Bamako-Sénou International, the only practical air gateway for any traveller arriving from outside the region.
