Segou is 235 km northeast of Bamako on the Route Nationale 6. Bush taxis and minibuses leave from Bamako's Sogoniko bus station throughout the day; the journey takes about 3 hours depending on traffic and road conditions. Several coach companies also run the route with more comfortable seats and fixed departure times.
There is no commercial airport at Segou. The closest is Bamako-Senou International Airport. Travel between Segou and Mopti (for Djenné and Dogon Country) continues northeast along the same road — another 4 to 5 hours by bush taxi.
