The Grand Marche is a covered market in the old part of town. You will find mostly cloth, pots, pans, and everyday goods rather than food. The roof offers one of the best vantage points over Timbuktu and the desert beyond.
The Petit Marche, north of the Bouctou hotel, is smaller but has more food, some meat, and a better selection of handicrafts and Tuareg jewelry.
