The Kasbah sits on a hilltop about 8 km north of the centre and offers the best panoramic view of Agadir, the bay, and the coast down to the south. The fortification itself was severely damaged in the 1960 earthquake and little of the original structure survives, but an Arabic inscription above the gateway dates to the 17th century and a Dutch inscription records a trading post established here in 1746. The walk up is steep; a taxi is the easier option.
