Seven waterfalls cascade down the gorge above the village of Setti Fatma, and reaching them is the main physical attraction of a visit to the valley. The trail begins beyond the last restaurants at the end of the road, where guides and unofficial helpers will offer to accompany you — unnecessary for the lower falls, useful for the upper ones.
The first waterfall is about 30–45 minutes on foot from the road, crossing the river several times on stepping stones. It is the most accessible and the one most day visitors reach. The higher falls involve increasingly serious scrambling; the rock becomes slippery with spray and loose underfoot in places. Count on two to three hours to reach the upper falls and return.
In spring, snowmelt makes the trail significantly harder and the lower crossing points may be submerged entirely. Come in autumn or early summer for the most reliable conditions.
