Sidi Bouzid Beach

Sidi Bouzid is the best beach close to Safi, a clean Atlantic bay 4 km south of the city with consistent surf and a relaxed atmosphere. The seafront has a string of simple fish restaurants and cafes where you can eat grilled sardines and watch the waves. In summer it fills up with Moroccan families; in winter you may have it nearly to yourself.

The surf breaks here are powerful and best suited to intermediate to experienced surfers. Beginners should stick to the smaller waves at the northern end of the beach. The water is cold year-round by Mediterranean standards — the Atlantic current keeps it well below Mediterranean temperatures even in August.
