The principal surviving synagogue of Tetouan's Mellah, founded in the nineteenth century and named for Rabbi Isaac Ben Walid, one of the great Sephardic spiritual authorities of northern Morocco. The interior, painted in pale blue and white, is small and dignified — a women's gallery upstairs, an ark of carved wood, a marble floor.
The synagogue is not on a regular tourist circuit and entry depends on the caretaker being present; ask politely at the door or arrange in advance through the local Jewish community. Modest dress and a small donation are expected.
