Things to Do

Tetouan's draw is its UNESCO-listed medina, the most intact and least touristed of Morocco's major old cities. The Andalusian heritage is everywhere — whitewashed walls, geometric tilework, wrought-iron grilles brought from Spain after 1492. The Spanish new town next door has a different flavour entirely: broad avenues, art deco facades, and the kind of cafes you would expect in Cádiz. Add a clutch of small but excellent museums and the Royal Palace's tiled facade on Place Hassan II, and a full day fills easily.
