Lüderitz's restaurant scene is thin but has one outstanding speciality: rock lobster (crayfish). The waters off the Namib coast support a large population of Jasus lalandii, and Lüderitz is considered the best place in southern Africa to eat them. A handful of restaurants near the waterfront serve them simply — grilled, with butter and bread — at prices far below what they would cost in Cape Town. The Diaz Coffee Shop and the Zum Sperrgebiet restaurant are the two most reliable options.
Beyond the crayfish, expect standard Namibian fare: steaks, schnitzel, and German-influenced dishes served in practical portions.
