Lüderitz is a town for wanderers rather than scheduled sightseers. The German colonial architecture in the town centre, the wild rocky coast, and the nearby ghost town of Kolmanskop are the three pillars of any visit. The wind blows almost constantly, which keeps the population small and the atmosphere surreal — a pocket of Jugendstil buildings at the edge of the Namib, where the cold Benguela Current crashes against barren rock.
