Getting There

Walvis Bay International Airport (WVB) is a small airport 10 km east of town with daily flights to Windhoek (on Air Namibia and FlyNamibia, around 90 minutes) and a handful of regional services. Most international visitors fly into Windhoek's Hosea Kutako Airport and drive the 4½ hours west via the well-paved B2 to reach Walvis Bay.

The road from Swakopmund, just 30 km north, takes only 25 minutes and is one of the most pleasant short drives in Namibia — straight blacktop between the ocean on one side and dunes on the other. Long-distance buses (Intercape, TownHoppers) connect Walvis Bay to Windhoek, Swakopmund, and even Cape Town. Cruise ships call regularly at the port and offer day trips to Sandwich Harbour and Sossusvlei.
