The Grande Marché is Niamey's main market and one of the busiest commercial places in Niger. Thousands of stalls fill the complex, selling fabric, household goods, food, cosmetics, leatherwork, and the everyday supplies that keep the city moving.
It is worth visiting for the colour and pace as much as for shopping. Go in the morning, keep valuables close, and take your time in the fabric and craft sections if you want something more interesting than a quick souvenir.
