Lisabi Grammar School in central Abeokuta is one of the oldest and best-known secondary schools in Ogun State, founded in 1953 and named for the Egba folk hero Lisabi, who unified the Egba people in the late 18th century against the dominance of the Oyo empire. The school's alumni include several Nigerian writers, judges, and politicians, and the campus is a familiar landmark in the city.
Visitors are not usually allowed onto the campus during school hours but the front gates and the small commemorative monument to Lisabi by the entrance can be seen from the road. The school is on the way to several other sights in the eastern part of the city and worth a brief stop for its place in Yoruba cultural memory.
