Abeokuta is dominated by Olumo Rock, the great granite outcrop at the city's heart. A morning climbing the rock, an afternoon at the Adire market and the Ake Palace, and you have the essentials. The city is also a major centre of Yoruba culture and Christian-Muslim coexistence, and the streets reward a slow wander.
