Getting There

Ile-Ife has no airport. The nearest major airports are in Ibadan (about 85 km) and Lagos (about 210 km). Most visitors arrive by road.

From Lagos: Buses and shared taxis leave from Ojota and Oshodi motor parks in Lagos, heading northeast toward Ibadan and then southeast to Ile-Ife. The journey takes three to four hours depending on traffic. Several intercity bus companies serve the route; you can also take a Sienna (shared minivan) which may be faster.

From Ibadan: Ife is about 85 km southeast of Ibadan, roughly ninety minutes by road. Shared taxis and minibuses run regularly from Iwo Road motor park in Ibadan.

From Osogbo: Ife is about 30 km southwest of Osogbo, the state capital of Osun State. Frequent shared taxis connect the two cities in about forty-five minutes. If you are combining Ife with a visit to the Osun-Oshogbo Sacred Grove, it makes sense to base yourself in Ife and do the Grove as a day trip.

Within the city: Okadas (motorcycle taxis) and tricycles (keke marwa) are the standard local transport. Agree the fare before setting off.
