Zaria lies on the main Abuja–Kano highway and is well connected by road. Abuja is approximately 200 km to the south (three to four hours by bus or shared taxi); Kano is about 100 km to the north (one and a half to two hours). Bush taxis and minibuses run frequently from motor parks in both cities. Kaduna, the state capital, is 70 km south and reachable in under an hour — most long-distance buses between Abuja and Kano stop there.
There is no commercial airport in Zaria. The nearest airports are at Kaduna (for regional flights) and Kano (with better connections including international routes). Zaria also has a railway station on the Lagos–Kano line, though service is limited and schedules unreliable — check current status before attempting to travel by rail.
