Kiyovu

Kiyovu is the city's diplomatic and expat quarter, a hillside neighbourhood between the central business district and the hotel strip that concentrates most of Kigali's better restaurants, galleries, and cafes. It is the most pleasant part of the city to walk around — quieter than downtown, shaded by trees, and with enough density of interesting places to fill an afternoon.

The neighbourhood is home to several small art galleries and craft shops, and the main roads are lined with the kind of international-standard restaurants that make Kigali punch above its weight as a dining destination. The Mille Collines hotel anchors the southern end, and from most streets you get views across the city's characteristic hills and valleys.
