Praia Salgada

Praia Salgada is one of Príncipe's more dramatic beaches, set against a backdrop of volcanic rock on the island's southern coast. The approach involves a walk through secondary forest, which keeps most casual visitors away. The beach itself is not large — more a cove than a strand — but the combination of dark sand, overhanging palms, and clear water makes it genuinely striking.

Swimming is possible in calm conditions, but check the sea state before entering — the southern coast is more exposed than the north and can develop a strong swell. The walk from the nearest road is about 45 minutes each way. Bring water and sun protection; there is no shade on the beach itself beyond the tree line.
