A long-established terrace restaurant a short walk from the ferry pier, Chez Aida is one of the best places on the island for traditional Senegalese cooking. Order the thieboudienne — the national dish of rice and fish cooked together with tomato and tamarind — and a tall fresh bissap or ginger juice.
Service can be slow when the lunchtime ferries dock, but the food is worth the wait. Sit at the terrace tables overlooking the sand.
