Anse Intendance

Anse Intendance, near the southern tip of Mahe, is one of the finest beaches on the island and one of the best in the Seychelles. A wide crescent of white sand backed by palms and low vegetation, with granite boulders framing each end of the bay. There are no beach bars or food vendors here — just the beach, the Indian Ocean, and the occasional other visitor.

The surf here can be strong, particularly from May to September when the southeast trade winds blow. Swimming is sometimes inadvisable — assess the conditions before you go in. The beach is reached by a path from the road that winds down from the main coastal highway. Getting here requires a car or taxi, as there is no reliable bus connection. The combination of remoteness, beauty, and the complete absence of infrastructure makes Anse Intendance one of the most memorable beaches in the western Indian Ocean.
