Berbera is not a tourist town, and it makes no particular effort to be one. What it offers is a functioning port city on the Gulf of Aden with a remarkable beach, Ottoman and colonial-era architecture along the waterfront, and one of the most pristine stretches of undeveloped coastline in the Horn of Africa. Travellers who make it here are rewarded by the absence of other travellers.
