Kalk Bay Craft Beer

Compact craft beer pub in the fishing village of Kalk Bay, with rotating taps of South African independents

Address Main Road, Kalk Bay

Kalk Bay Craft Beer is a small pub on the main road through Kalk Bay, the fishing village on the False Bay coast that has become one of Cape Town's most distinctive day-trip destinations. The tap list rotates through South African independent breweries — Cape Brewing Company, Devil's Peak, Triggerfish — and the selection is better than anything else along the Kalk Bay strip. The room is relaxed and frequented by a mix of locals and visitors.

Kalk Bay itself is worth a half-day: the harbour is working and picturesque, the antique shops and the independent bookshop on the main road are worth browsing, and the Brass Bell — a more tourist-facing pub right on the sea wall — is ten minutes' walk away. The train from Cape Town takes about thirty minutes.
