The Iziko Planetarium, attached to the South African Museum in the Company's Garden, has been completely rebuilt as a digital dome — one of the most advanced in the southern hemisphere. The 8K full-dome projection system delivers a much sharper experience than the old optical projector it replaced.
Daily shows cover the southern night sky, southern hemisphere constellations, astronomy basics and a rotating set of full-dome films. The shows last about 45 minutes and are pitched at a general audience; a separate "Sky Tonight" show explains what you'll see in the actual Cape Town sky that evening. Tickets are inexpensive and bookable on the door.
