South African Rugby Museum

Large rugby museum in Newlands tracing the history of South African rugby

Address Boundary Road, Newlands
Phone ++27 (0)21 686 4532

The South African Rugby Museum at Newlands is one of the largest rugby museums in the world, housed near the former Newlands Stadium (the historic home of Western Province rugby, since replaced as the main venue by the DHL Newlands). The collection spans the full history of South African rugby, from the first Springbok tour to the four World Cup-winning campaigns.

Jerseys, trophies, photographs and memorabilia fill the galleries; temporary exhibitions cover specific eras and players. A worthwhile stop if you follow the game, less so if you don't. Newlands is about 30 minutes from the city centre by car or bus.
