The Sea Point Promenade runs for about three kilometres along the Atlantic shoreline from Mouille Point in the north to Bantry Bay in the south, a wide flat path that has become Cape Town's most democratic public space. Dog-walkers, joggers, families, fishermen, public-art installations and weekend crowds all share it without much friction.
The Pavilion tidal pool and the Sea Point swimming pool offer the rare chance to swim in cold but contained ocean water with a view back to Lion's Head. There are several pieces of public sculpture along the way — the gigantic pair of black-framed Ray-Ban-style glasses near the Pavilion is a popular photo spot. Sunsets here are reliably spectacular.
