Getting There

Johannesburg is the main transportation hub for South Africa and much of the southern African region.

OR Tambo International Airport is one of Africa's busiest, with direct flights to destinations across the continent and intercontinental connections to Europe, Asia, North America, South America, and Australia. Most visitors to South Africa will pass through here at some point.

South Africa's rail network centres on Johannesburg, with connections to Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Durban, East London, Nelspruit, Messina, and Pretoria. Long-distance buses connect Johannesburg with cities across the country and into neighbouring countries — the main operators are Translux, Greyhound, and Intercape Mainliner.
