Gebel Barkal

Gebel Barkal is a sandstone hill and archaeological landscape that was sacred to ancient Kush and Egypt. Temples and palace ruins lie at the base of the hill, with more ancient sites spread along the Nile nearby.

The hill itself is a landmark, but the real reason to come is the mix of desert, Nile scenery, and major ancient remains in one compact area.
