Northern Sudan is brutally hot for much of the year. November to February is the least punishing window, with cooler mornings and evenings for walking the archaeological sites.
Avoid the middle of the day whenever possible. There is little shade at Jebel Barkal, Nuri, or El Kurru, and heat can turn even short walks into a test of stubbornness.
