Eswatini is a small landlocked kingdom surrounded by South Africa on three sides and Mozambique to the east.
By Air
King Mswati III International Airport near Sikhuphe, in the Lubombo region, is the country's main international airport. It handles a handful of regional routes, most usefully from Johannesburg (OR Tambo). The older Matsapha Airport near Manzini is now used primarily for charter flights.
Most international travellers fly into Johannesburg and then travel overland. The drive from OR Tambo to Mbabane takes roughly four hours.
By Road
There are several road border crossings between Eswatini and South Africa, open during daylight hours. The main ones are Ngwenya/Oshoek (on the main road from Johannesburg, the busiest), Mahamba (from Piet Retief), and Lavumisa/Golela (south, from Durban). Crossing from Mozambique is possible at the Lomahasha/Namaacha post in the north-east.
Shared minibus taxis run between Johannesburg's Park Station and Manzini. They are cheap and frequent but can be crowded and slow at busy border crossings. Intercape and other coach operators run scheduled services from Johannesburg and Durban with a stop in Manzini.
