The seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kpalimé, the Cathédrale Saint-Esprit is a modest mid-20th-century building with whitewashed walls, a tall bell tower, and a quiet shaded courtyard. Sunday mass draws large congregations from across the region and is sung in Ewe and French, with drum-backed choirs.
Visitors are welcome outside service times. The interior is plain but cool, a useful refuge from the afternoon sun and a good cross-section of Kpalimé's middle-class life on weekday mornings.
